SeaVee 450z Boat Review

Let's take a closer look at the SeaVee 450z in this Florida Sportsman boat review

The new 450z proves you can have the comfort and technology of a sportfish yacht, along with the extreme fishability of an open boat.

In 2021, the face of the modern large center console has come full circle. Over the course of the last generation- a move away from the classic sportfish yacht has shifted for many- towards the nimbler and more fishable large center console. Anglers willing to forfeit comforts in favor of functionality drove demand for the largest open fisherman the sport has known towards center consoles upwards of sixty feet.

The new flagship 450z brings the needle back around 360-degrees proving you can have the comfort and technology of a sportfish yacht, along with the extreme fishability of an open boat- all in one. Years of meticulous design and engineering went into the final design of this model and it shows at every corner of the boat from the top down. A unique Uni-infused console and window system feature a laminated safety glass enclosure designed to eliminate polarization glare and the “frits” spotting associated with tempered windows. The infused hardtop and ladder support system form a single unit for maximum strength and functionality.

Below deck systems from a SeaKeeper stabilizer, diesel generator, dual 16K BTU air-conditioning units are all consistent with features you'd find on the larger yachts. A Groco automated E-valve through-hull network that allows six sea cocks to be controlled from the helm allows you to exercise the valves regularly to keep them operating smoothly and each can be programmed to adjust flow rate based on speed and engine RPMs ensuring perfectly controlled baitwell levels.

Under the air-conditioned hard top, dual rows of (3 each) Release Marine ladder back helm chairs with a forward-center positioned helm- face an array of control screens with up to three 22-inch MFD units fitting easily into the dash face. The cabin below offers a place to relax around a high-low electric table converting into a berth. A private head/shower compartment and refrigerator, microwave, and sink are also standard.

The cockpit, designed to meet anyone's demands- includes four 40-gallon livewells, two 200-gallon fish holds, two side entry doors along with an additional massive fish hold, optional live well and two rod lockers below deck in the bow. The collection of features for both comfort and fishing effectiveness offered on the 450z set a new standard for the modern large center console.
